Vertical Rectangle Variations - A5

A5 Prints from late last year. The overprinting of colours was hard to 'line up' and the success rate of prints few and far between.

This purpose built building for Freemasonry was still used as such until relatively recently. It is now an artist run space.

Benediction [ 2005 ]

‘Benediction’ appropriates the ‘Live Long and Prosper’ hand signal. It is used as a farewell gesture by the Vulcan People from the  program Star Trek It serves as a symbol for a fictional Vulcan race of logic-based humanoids that have repressed and subdued all emotional thoughts and feelings. This hand gesture is actually an abbreviated version of a traditional Jewish religious blessing. It is based on the ancient hand symbol used by the Kohanim and is symbolic of divine immanence. During filming of an early Star Trek episode actor Leonard Nimoy (who is Jewish) used the gesture while ad-libbing the line ‘live long and prosper’.

The Surreal House

I saw the exhibition 'The Surreal House' at the Barbican Centre. A diverse collection of art, objects & film, set inside a labyrinth of spaces designed by an architect. Featuring pivotal artists, architects and film makers including Salvador Dali, Marcel Duchamp, Alberto Giacometti, René Magritte, Man Ray, through to more contemporary figures. My favorite piece - was a film featuring Buster Keating - the title of which escapes me.

Another work from the Saatchi Collection

I photographed this work at the Saatchi Gallery in London. Its not my taste or aesthetic, but it was a good piece to document rather than just 2D works...

Barbican Sky Towers

Brutalist architecture is a style of architecture which flourished from the 1950s to the mid 1970s, spawned from the modernist architectural movement. I went a tour of the Barbican Estate recently, well worth a visit if your visiting London: http://www.barbican.org.uk
